Just for the record, I’m not entirely against the product and am not lobbying to have it pulled from the shelves. It probably is helpful for some people. I just think the manufacturers should do the responsible thing and stick a warning label on the bottle.

Joe, thanks for helping get the word out on this product. I agree completely with you that P&G should do the responsible thing and put a warning on the bottle regarding the possible side effects (e.g. teeth staining, loss of taste, mouth numbing, excessive tissue sloughing, etc). In fact, I would go a step further — I think this product should require a prescription and only be used under careful dental supervision. Yes, there may be a place for it, but only with proper warnings and strict controls, because the side effects are NASTY
