One of my nephews, Cedric, recently sent me his Flat Stanley, to entertain for a few days and then send back to him with a brief journal of Flat Stanley’s experiences during his visit to Crawfordsville, Indiana. If you’ve never heard of Flat Stanley, he’s the leading man (actually the leading boy) in the Flat Stanley Book Series.
Legend has it that Flat Stanley (a.k.a. Stanley Lambchops) “becomes flattened by an enormous bulletin board while he lay in bed one night. Among other things, he soon discovers that due to his flatness he can easily be put into an envelope and mailed virtually anywhere. Every place holds a new adventure for Stanley!”
Well, I kind of keyed in on that word “virtually” and figured it would be cool to digitize Flat Stanley, so he could travel the Web and gain access to even more wonderful and exotic places. I scanned in Flat Stanley and uploaded him to a folder on my Web site, where he can now truly travel virtually anywhere. So, Cedric, your Flat Stanley is now on the Web at JoeKraynak.com.
If you have your own Web site or blog (FaceBook and MySpace count, too), please help facilitate Flat Stanley’s virtual journey on the Web. You can right-click the Flat Stanley image and save it to your computer or simply link to it at http://joekraynak.com/images/flatstanleysmall.jpg. If you’d like a larger copy to download and take photos with as Flat Stanley visits you, the larger version is at http://joekraynak.com/images/flatstanley.jpg. If you post Flat Stanley on your blog or Web site, please come back and post a comment to let us know where we can find him.
