BBB Complaint:
Make lawful the ability of people to cancel their services. Since most signup online, there should be a way to cancel online. You should not require mediums different that the one used to signup for the service. If one signs up over the phone its ludicrous to require them to have internet access to cancel, & vice versa. At a minimum, if you chose to make it difficult and require people to repeatedly cancel with a retention specialist, have your phone # work during the advertised hours at least.

I cancelled with the 866-212-2170 number provided here. I little weirded out that when they answered they asked "whats your social security number?" ...especially since the number came from a random poster. However they did have my email address I signed up with (and only used for that site), so I know it is legit.

In any event, someone may want to pursue the fact that it is unlawful for them to not have any way to cancel their service. I have been calling for weeks in the middle of their advertised open hours and there is no answer to the advertised number (800) 493-2392.

For the record I informed him of the error, just so they cannot plead ignorance in the future. I also informed them that according to several complaint boards, this has been happening for several months (minimum).

Although they thanked me for the notice, I am sure they are fully aware of the inability for users to cancel by any information given on their site. It is a travesty that one of the 3 bureaus that safe-keep our most sensitive of records has such sinister and unlawful practices.

There should be a class-action suit filed against them. At the very least lets file a BBB report. I'll do one now.

I just recently applied for a chase card, seeing my credit score at 671 on TrueCredit, i thought i'd have a good chance, seeing as how my brother with a 635 got the same card. Few days later I recieve a denial letter from CHASE, stating my credit score was 570!! I also noticed that before the 7day trial was ended, which is suppose to be in 3 days, THEY ALREADY CHARGED THE MONTHLY FEE! And ontop of that, they charged the $30 for the 3-buero reporting!! I never even told them to! Called TrueCredit to cancel the service(at the 866 number, the 800 number is worthless) as soon as the rep answered, i didn't even let them finish greeting me before interrupting them saying "I want to cancel my membership and i want the monthly fee i wasnt suppose to pay for yet and the $30 fee i never agreed to refunded and i want a confirmation email before i get off the phone" he asked why i wanted to cancel and i replied simply "Cancel it." he asked again, i answered "Either cancel it, or find me a rep with enough brains to do so. He then canceled it, mumbled something that i couldn't quite hear, and hung up.

Hey Joe/Mebe. Wanted to say thanks for the initial post and for sharing the correct phone number to cancel the TransUnion service. Search results had this post at top ranking, so just doing my part to help keep it there. I successfully cancelled my transunion.com account by calling the working number [866-212-2170] not [800-493-2392]. Was ready for a long conversation, but when the rep asked why I wanted to cancel, I just said "No comment. Please spend the time canceling this service." Call lasted less than 3 mins.

That number worked and I canceled.

Just to let yall know. After having trouble cancelling my "True Credit" account I ran across these comments and more like it on other sites. I have been trying for weeks now to reach someone on the toll free # posted at all hrs. Of the day between the times they are "open", of course to no avail. I had to cancel my credit card and order a new one to get them to stop taking money. This month they took their monthly fee twice for the first time and I had just had enough. When I think of all the months they took the monthly fee without providing me with even an accurate score or a valid way to cancel, I feel totally duped and my heart sinks. Wish I can see somebody take these guys down for good and make them pay, in my lifetime.
